World Series Final Game Captures 51 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The exciting extended clash where the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 drew a total over 50 million viewers across the US, Canadian, and Japanese markets. Major League Baseball reported this represents the most-watched World Series finale after the 1991 contest between the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s memorable game averaged 27.33 million audience members on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It also is the most-watched World Series game since the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This represents a sixteen percent increase over the last Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game ranked fourth, the fourth game ranked 7th, the fifth game was eighth, and the third game finished in thirteenth place.

Global Audience Numbers

In Canada, the game drew over 11 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English broadcast in the country since the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final contest started at 9 p.m. local time, it averaged 12 million viewers. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – where World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – averaged 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched World Series game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The full seven-match series recorded 15.71M audience members on Fox, a two percent rise from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience growth for two straight seasons.

Including the Game 1 telecast on Univision, the total US average was 16.1M. The overall Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels averaged 8.09 million watchers, an eight percent rise compared to the previous year and Fox’s strongest playoff performance since 2017.

Major League Baseball announced that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in sixteen different tongues.
